A source is listed once we have opened it ourselves on the read date. The Tesla charging page was tried on Nov 8, 2026 and refused access to our server and a headless browser, so no Tesla price appears anywhere on the site.

Method
- EV cost per 100 miles is kWh per 100 miles times cents per kWh, divided by 100. The EPA figure is taken at the wall, so charger losses are included. Gas cost per 100 miles is 100 divided by combined mpg, times dollars per gallon.
- Each EPA model is one trim. EV efficiency is the combE column rounded to 0.1; gas models are 2026 regular-fuel, non-hybrid trims, picked to span the EPA size classes, not a market sample.
- Gas prices map each state to the EIA region (PADD) that contains it. EIA reports a regional price, so a state can sit above or below it.
- Federal credit dates are the IRS wording on the credit pages and in the OBBB FAQ. State rows are the AFDC wording. We sorted the AFDC records by reading their titles and text, so a missed record is possible; the state table says so where it matters.
- Where a number has one source, the page says so. Today that applies to every state program amount (AFDC only), the electricity prices (EIA only) and the EPA ratings (EPA only). Gas prices have two, EIA and AAA. Federal dates have two IRS pages.
Update schedule
Electricity is refreshed when EIA releases a new month; the next one is Nov 24, 2026. Gasoline is refreshed weekly. IRS pages, AFDC state records and the EPA file are re-read monthly. Those are intentions and can slip; the date bar at the top of every page shows the date of the data in front of you.
