What it costs to charge a Tesla

At home, 100 miles cost between $4.41 and $7.88 on the U.S. average electricity price, depending on the trim. Supercharger prices change by site, so this page does not quote one.

Charging a Tesla Model Y Long Range RWD at home costs $4.58 per 100 miles at the U.S. average of 18.16 cents per kWh (EIA, August 2026, residential, preliminary). In Nevada the same 100 miles cost $3.21 and in Hawaii $11.89. EPA ratings put the Cybertruck Long Range (20in Cyber wheels) at 1.8 times the energy of the Model 3 Standard RWD.

Every 2026 Tesla trim, at the U.S. average price

The EPA file behind fueleconomy.gov lists 19 model year 2026 Tesla trims with an electric rating. Each rating is kWh per 100 miles taken at the wall, so charger losses are inside it. Multiply by cents per kWh and divide by 100 and you have dollars per 100 miles. The chart sorts the trims from the lowest energy use up.

Source: EPA fueleconomy.gov (links in the first column), read Nov 8, 2026; EIA August 2026, 18.16 cents per kWh. Full range is the energy for the full EPA range at the wall, kWh/100 mi times range divided by 100, which is close to what a charge from empty to full pulls. Per year assumes 12,000 miles, an assumed figure.

The state matters more than the trim

Pick the Tesla Model Y Long Range RWD and move it around the country. At Nevada's 12.72 cents it uses $385 of electricity over 12,000 miles. At Hawaii's 47.18 cents it uses $1,427. The price ratio between those two states is 3.7, bigger than the 1.8 spread between the least and most efficient Tesla. All 51 prices are in the state-by-state guide, and your own state and rate go into the home charging cost calculator.

Supercharger prices

This page has no Supercharger rate. Tesla's charging support page returned "Access Denied" to our server and to a headless browser on Nov 8, 2026, so there was no official number to read, and a number from a forum would have no date we could stand behind. What we can say is that Tesla shows the price at each Supercharger in its app, and it can differ from site to site.

Type that price below and the tool turns it into dollars per 100 miles for your trim, next to your home cost. The figure you get depends on the rate you typed; nothing here is pre-filled.

What this leaves out

For the purchase side, federal credits are closed (see federal credits) and some states still pay a rebate (see the state incentives table). Against a gas car, the EV vs gas calculator does the same arithmetic with the EIA gas price. Home charger money is in home charger incentives. Sources and dates are on the data page. Not financial advice.
